Good evening. Please forgive me but I can’t walk past a colourful house in London and not snap it. It’s becoming a bit of an obsession, especially if it’s pink. Good night all and thanks so much for all the lovely comments in my last post. I will be replying to every single one tonight. 💕💕
This weekend I'm not at the most beautiful lake in the world, but I am enjoying the snowy mountains in Austria ❄️ I have a hard time taking pictures when my fingers get so cold so fast, but see some glimpses in Story. I'm finishing up my first semester of master's in Sustainable Development, and feeling a bit stressed with exams and papers but more than that, because I have to leave to head over to the Netherlands just hours after my last class. Packing, moving again, traveling with a dog... I am really missing the feeling of being at home, which is something I have in Guatemala. It can be exhausting to move around so much... do you have any tips on how to feel at home quickly in a new place? I'd love to hear from you. 📸@moeroindigo#studyingineurope#anddreamingofhome
Have you ever started with a tiny idea of something and fully brought it into reality, a piece of art or music, a dream job scenario, a vacation? Like, really brought it to the dreamiest level that you saw it in your imagination? Commissions aside, not every painting that I make truly feels this way no matter how “good” it may be. In the past 10 years, since I started painting portraits, I have a small, SMALL handful of paintings that completely achieved my vision. This painting is one of them.
I was inspired by palm print wallpapers of some of the great design houses, MANY fashion designers, throwback Kate Moss in a white fur, my recent solo trip to Cuba, and turbaned beauties from the 1920’s and 60’s. I learned how to make an overlapping repetitive print, designed this wallpaper and spent 16 hours hand painting it for the background for my model to pose in front of (and then painted it again in this painting). Campaigns lush with texture and pattern, like the completely drool worthy #guccicruise18 filled my IG saves. Cuba’s Santeria initiatives, clad head to toe in white, starkly contrasted with their vibrant surroundings and gave a vibe of mystery and beauty... all of these things led to this painting. I’m not trying to say it’s great in the world, but it’s exactly what I wanted it to be.
