Today I’m grateful for setting goals and kicking their asses! I’ve always had a negative relationship with my body. Even when I was a young girl, I couldn’t stand to wear shorts or tank tops. I was skinny, scrawny, and too tall for my age. My boobs grew in too fast and I got stretch marks. My butt never got bootylicious (and I doubt it ever will). My nose was too big, my chin wasn’t big enough, my eyelashes were too short, my eyebrows were too sparse, my feet too big, my calves too skinny, my muffin-top too muffiny (lol)....I picked myself apart. And I didn’t even realize it was ME who was doing this. The last few years I’ve gone to the gym, eaten like a boss, and gained a bit of confidence in my body. My trainer is one of my biggest supports and inspirations; she is a kind soul with a rockin’ bod, and she’s comfortable with who she is. I strive for that level of comfort and I’m smashing the small body goals I am setting for myself every day. You only get one body; treat it well. It is your temple. #bodypositive#gym#motivation#goals#repeat
As a size 24/26, I have to imagine how clothes look on my body. I don’t have the privilege of shopping at popular plus retail clothing store and seeing a model similar to my body type. I have to imagine. IMAGINE.
What this means for the ignorant folks in the back: I go online and base my shopping experience off a size 10,12 or 14 model. Finding a models 18/20 is pushing the bar. But, I can imagine, right? Anyone catching what I’m throwing down or am I talking to myself? But, I still have a privilege. We’re still missing the mark of having fashionable clothing for sizes 28 and up - especially sizes after 32. I can’t speak for them, but I’m sure they wish for “imagine”. Be careful when screaming body diversity because you’re not screaming for everyone unless inclusion includes all sizes. ALL OF THEM. ALL. Every One Sis!
