Incredible behind-the-scenes tour last night at the San Diego Museum of Man! ✨
During the tour, EMPs had the opportunity to approach the idea of race from a scientific background, from a historic standpoint, and from the sharing & discussion of our own personal stories.
Fitting with our 2018 theme, this event allowed attendees to open up in a “brave space”, where candid and authentic discussion was respected and encouraged.
We are so excited to bring more of these conversations to our awesome museum professionals community!
And, a huge thank you to @museumofman for facilitating this meaningful and important conversation! ✨
What is one thing you got done today? If you’re ever feeling down just take a shower or do your bed and I promise it makes you feel 1000x more productive. Sometimes I feel like I’ve wasted an entire day but baby steps motivate me to do more things.💖
Pilates teaches complete coordination of body, mind and spirit. The system encourages play and exploration of all these things. How could this not be true, when exercises are named after ridiculous animals like seals, frogs, elephants, and mermaids. The fun is built right in!
Plié front and Plié back, usually these are taught on the chair, but a little exploration today led me to try it out on the tower, and you know what, it feels fantastic! The spring from above feeds the push-thru bar back into the shoulders and allows easier stability. This gives time to coordinate the flex of the spine with the plié of the legs/pelvis!
The rest was just more exploration of how that support could invite different movements.
