Today was exhausting! But we made so much progress on all the little things! I wish I would have taken more “before” photos of the condition of these doors! I’m thrilled with how they turned out as well as the hardware!!
My interior shutters should be going in sometime in the next week or so! Also planning to order a natural sisal rug for this space. Now that I have a vintage rug in both my living room and kitchen I need something more natural to bridge the gap. I may relocate this silver shag to my bedroom since it’s so cozy on the feet.
So this rocking chair has been unfinished since August 2014.... I hand sanded this baby when I was 8 and 9 months pregnant. It was a dark cherry wood. And re-finished it with a beach wood look. I picked out new upholstery... and started stapling it... but it’s not finished because one of the staples went through my mother in laws hands when she was helping me... so here it sits. My favourite piece of furniture. And it’s okay. Because I am going to finish it. It doesn’t matter it’s taken almost 4 years... sometimes our time and attention goes to more important things... like my three babies, or binge watching a favourite show on Netflix because I need downtime. But I know that as my kids get older, I will have a bit more time for this sort of thing. So I learn on the daily to enjoy the present, enjoy the grubby hands and the wet sloppy kisses... because those gifts won’t be around forever. But this chair will always be here, watching our lives and waiting patiently to be finished.
