We wrapped up our winter Tinkergarten season by thinking ahead to spring! We pretended to be birds and made a nest big enough for explorers to fit in. I’m looking forward to all the play and learning that is in store for us this spring. 🌸 . . #Tinkergarten #anestforexplorers #optoutside #raiseawildchild #wildandfree #playislearning #grossmotorskills #imagination #behavioralschema #ocparks #tricitypark

Today’s explorers gathered nature treasures that later became the ingredients for our own stone soup. After snack everyone lingered around and continued their play. I must say; love our green space here at Dermond! It gets a bit swampy after a good rain and many of the explorers found perfect puddles to jump in! #cometotinkergarten #delco #delcofamilies #dermondfield #dhll #drexelhill #explorers #familiesinnature #havertown #learningthroughplay #llanerchhills #marplenewtown #natureplay #optoutside #outdoorfamilies #stonesoup #tinkergarten

A leprauchan left us some gold and shamrocks today! #tinkergarten #tinkergartencranburypark

We pretended to be birds today at #tinkergarten and built a nice big cozy nest! Then we found some worms! What a wonderful end to our winter classes, I can’t wait for my spring classes to start!

Kathryn Maciula (@openairexplorersco)

Tinkergarten Day! My favorite day. The explorers helped some little animal friends make dens and nests to hibernate in and talked about what animals might be waking up soon. My own little bunny was more than happy to relax in his burrow, waiting for Spring.

Turns out our favorite flower fairy is an invasive species. "Before the hawthorn leaves unfold, or buttercups put forth their gold, by every footpath shine the stars of lesser celandine" 🌎🌿Dug out some invasive species in our tinkergarten park but kept the flowers #stewardshipsaturday #ambler #amblerboroughpark#marycicelybarker #flowerfairies #amblereac #tinkergarten

We made petal potions in our trial today. It felt like an especially appropriate way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and the beginning of Spring! #tinkergarten #summerlakepark

Making a wish that we’ll find a 4-leaf clover today! πŸ€πŸ’š #tinkergarten ........ Did you know that you have a 1 in 10,000 chance in finding one? If you get lucky, keep looking nearby, because 4-leaf clovers are a genetic mutation and chances are good that you’ll find another one in the same area if that’s where the same mutated seeds sprouted! πŸŒ±β˜˜οΈπŸ€β˜˜οΈπŸ€β˜˜οΈπŸ€β˜˜οΈπŸ€

This boy lights up my life! We had our first β€˜real’ bubble bath today! We had to get squeaky clean after our fun adventures at the park. The best way to get clean is by playing with bubbles! It’s so much fun! #NolanDavid2018 #2yearsold #bubbles #MyJamminLife #Tinkergarten

I just recently came across this fantastic article titled β€œDo Yourself a Favor and Let Your Kids Play In the Rain.” It’s very fitting for our weather forecast over the next few days here. I admit, as I sat on my front porch this evening and my 2 year old shot me puppy dog eyes to convince me she should play in the rain, I briefly hesitated. She already had pajamas on and I still had some evening chores to get to. But, I quickly remembered how much joy she truly gets playing in the rain. I even remembered the joy I had as a kid when my brother and I had the opportunity to get completely soaked in everyday clothing while playing in the rain. We think that just because it’s raining we cannot get outside and enjoy nature but as the article mentions, β€œthere’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.” So I encourage you to let them put those water shoes on and splash in those puddles this weekend. β˜”οΈπŸ˜ŠπŸ’¦ Link to article in bio.

I love it when a princess comes to tinker in nature πŸ‘‘πŸƒThanks to the moms and kids of Fit4Mom Chapel Hill for coming to hammer, squish and create with forest putty today! #tinkergarten #fit4momchapelhill #outdoorplay #outdoors #natureplay #optoutside

Today we built hibernation stations. We used mud as putty for a quick second and then just jumped in the mud. Eventually our conversation became "do any animals hibernate in mud? Do pigs hibernate?" #tinkergarten #okcfamilies

My boys and I have been drinking in this gorgeous spring weather every day this week. β€οΈπŸŒ±πŸ›
