Two observations (1) now the wheel arches, ceiling and a few of the panels are covered in flashband driving the van is a lot more pleasant due to it being far quieter and (2) It feels very odd driving around without a passenger seat.
Wooden support beam for the bed:
The bed design I’ve decided upon does not span the entire van (to make room for the internal bike storage). As such, I wanted the bed’s attachment point to the passenger-wall to be absolutely secure. The optimal method was to secure a length of wood to the T5’s horizontal support beam, as shown, and build the bed out from that point.
From the bottom to the top, El Cocuy National Park has been the most breathtakingly beautiful scenery we have had thus far. On the same sunny day we experienced winter and spring-like conditions, dry high desert, to rivers running through fields of flowers in bloom. Colombia, you are awe inspiring.
Sound deadening and insulation layering:
My layering pattern for insulation and sound deadening is: (1) Flash band (2) Aluminium backed bubble wrap (3) Loft insulation (recycled plastic bottles, the non-itchy stuff, that will not absorb moisture like some others) (4) Aluminium backed bubble wrap (5) Carpet coated plywood.
I wrote a blog post all about our van build. I tried to include every corner and crevice of this thing to show you guys all the details. Please keep in mind that I do write these on a laptop so the formatting does look better on a computer versus your phone. But either way, the info is there with pictures and all. Link in bio now! Also, this is especially catered to those of us on a budget! We opted for the cheaper options pretty much across the board and still ended up very happy with the results! I’ll be doing a video version on Instagram today or tomorrow too. Happy Thursday friends 🌞
Sunset stoke and ocean vibes. If you get the opportunity to caravan down the coast, go. There's nothing better than traveling with old friends to a new location. Familiar becomes unfamiliar and then familiar again. #vanlifediaries to circle up. 📷 @wheresmyofficenow
