Aaaand that’s a wrap at the Adelaide Oval folks!
Professor Muhammad Yunus, Nobel laureate and Fulbright Scholar completed his “A World of Three Zeroes” Australia tour with provocative comments in #Adelaide.
When asked to remark on military spending at #FlindersUniversity he fired up: “It’s a waste of money! We only need it now because we as human beings are afraid of each other.” His whole trip reinforced a global plea to shift how we view each other, not as productive tools or enemies, rather as creative high potential beings to be treated with empathy and fellowship.
When asked about taxes, he responded: “We need the government to provide these social services for us because we have been told we cannot do it for ourselves”. Echoing #GrameenAustralia Chair Peter Hunt AM’s view that, as a wealthy & educated country, instead of deploying our talents to solve our own problems, Australia outsources social services to Government or the Charity sector. Why not fix social woes by building #socialbusinesses?
Finally, when asked if he will launch #microcredit in Australia to solve #poverty and #welfare, he responds: “you fund it and we’ll build it”. Thank you Sir, for trusting us to carry out your legacy. If you want to help, please contact me.
